Sleep is being proven to be much more beneficial than ever before. A new study shows that sleep can be very beneficial to helping a person remember facts, and stay focused. The study shows that a good nights sleep can help people retain information; students that do not receive enough sleep can be very emotional and have impulsive issues.

Sleep improves all aspects of life.

The researchers performed the study to 40 preschoolers between the ages of 3 and 6. They taught lessons first to perform a memory task, followed by a break of several hours. The children were divided into two groups after the break. One group remained awake or while the other encouraged to nap. The group who took a nap slept for about an hour and a quarter an average of 77 minutes. Although the brief nap appeared to make little difference in the children’s feelings of sleepiness, it did, however, help enhance their memories. The children who had rested performed better.

Key Takeaways:

1
Our brains are not designed to learn all the time and sleep is essential for memory and learning.
2
Naps are more beneficial than you might think and actually help in memory function.
3
The study tested not just children but adults as well and the results remain that sleep is necessary for learning and function.
