Jamee and Payden Miller are the founders of an up-and-coming company known as Hidden Abilities. Jamee Miller is a lifelong dyslexic and she is on a mission to help others with reading difficulties through the invention of a text-to-voice reading device. The prototype has already been created and it is small and can be used very discreetly. The device is called the Read ‘N Style.

“Most see it as just a disability, but actually it’s a trade-off. Maybe you’re weak in reading, but there’s other positive aspects, like spatial reasoning. A lot of engineers are dyslexic,” Payden said.

The Hidden Abilities blue tooth device scans text and reads the words aloud.

The Read’N Style’s simple design is no bigger than a child’s pencil box. It can be scanned over text and the words are then read aloud through the use of a Bluetooth earpiece. There are other devices on the market that with similar function but none that are as simplistic as the Read ‘N Style. There is currently a funding campaign on Indiegogo for this device in the hopes to soon bring it to market.
