Reading Without Walls Challenge is a program that challenges young students to read literature on people that are not like them. The material did not have to be hardback books alone but could take the form of different formats and materials. The challenge was promoted by schools, teachers and bookstores to get kids to live better by learning how other live.
The Library of Congress and Gene Luen Yang, the current Young People’s Literature ambassador is guiding the program. He is a two-time National Book Award finalist. The month of April will be the month celebrated every year. Mr. Yang plans to challenge students to read, and read about the appearance and experience of other people.
