A young autistic schoolboy from Bagworth could really use a friend to help him learn to navigate the world and his mom has a four-legged one in mind. The family of seven-year-old Louis Rhodes recently launched an online fundraising campaign to buy him a specially trained Autism Life Dog.
Dogs are trained to help autistic children and adults.
Louis’s mother explains that the pooches are trained in a therapeutic program of games and activities that are custom-designed to help their young masters develop the important physical, cognitive and social skills they sometimes struggle with. The dogs also sooth their anxieties and keep them out of harm’s way.
