The young and elderly are most likely the experience a TBI then other groups. While it is known that 300,000 young people experience a TBI every year the exact number is expected to be much higher. This is largely due to the fact that many of these injuries occur while playing a sport, and approximately 90% of all athletes do not lose consciousness. Presumably, they could have a TBI without even realizing it. Among those who experience TBIs, 15% have symptoms that last beyond a year. These symptoms include fatigue, headaches, and memory loss. Additionally, emotional problems, depression, and seizures are associated with TBI's as well.
