There is a difference between accommodations and modifications when it comes to teaching. Accommodations are steps that are taken by the instructor that more readily assist a student. While the student is still responsible for learning the matter, they way in which they learn are adapted. An example would be reading the instructions for a child that has difficulty doing so on their own. Modifications on the other hand changes “WHAT” is being taught? Perhaps a classroom of students is struggling to understand a new concept; the instructor may have re-evaluated the curriculum in order to ease the concepts.
