There is good news for the people who worry that the United States is suffering from an epidemic of too many preschool children being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyper Disorder (ADHD). Researchers at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia say that the number of kids with ADHD has finally stabilized. Their findings were published in Pediatrics.
The younger a child is diagnosed, the easier their struggles.
Apparently the stabilization began six years ago in 2011. That is when the American Academy of Pediatrics endorsed their orthodox approach toward the diagnosis and treatment of young children with Attention Deficit Hyper Disorder (ADHD). It should be noted that pediatricians recommended behavioral therapy as the primary treatment for preschool children. However, the use of stimulants remained steady. One in three of every American child receives their diagnosis between the ages of four and five.
